Before Rekindled

Before Rekindled, I traveled a lot of roads — some smooth, some steep, all of them lined with lessons in courage, faith, and resilience.

I have Southern roots — from North Carolina and Texas — and the grit and grace that come with them. I’m the mother of two beautifully unique young men who continue to teach me what real strength looks like.

My youngest son, who lives at Misericordia Home on Chicago’s North Side, has weathered sixteen brain surgeries, multiple orthopedic procedures, epilepsy, and cognitive challenges. Through it all, he remains the bravest, most joy-filled hero I know. He is the living, breathing essence of where faith and courage intersect — and his humor, enthusiasm, and love of life leave me in awe daily.

My oldest son is loyal, steady, and wise beyond his years. In the face of his own challenges, he continues to grow with grace, humility, and strength — and I could not be prouder of the man he is becoming.

I’ve taught them both that they can move forward into a life of love and grace — turning what happened into what is hopeful.
(It’s a lesson I’ve taught myself, too.)

I’ve been divorced for over 13 years — still single, still standing, and still hopeful. I’ve worked in a wide range of industries, worn many hats, and walked through a thousand reinventions. And in every experience — even the messy ones — I’ve found the building blocks of my purpose.

Every road has led me here.
Every “fail” has shaped me into a stronger, more creative, more compassionate version of myself.
And this business — Rekindled — is where all roads intersect.
